Webmaster - Then - Marville, France, April, 1966 - 439 Squadron became the first home of yours truly. The fun had begun! Marville was out in the middle of no-where. Sister Squadron, 441 parked across the street was our nemesis and remained so until the day we separated - 441 back to Cold Lake and 439 to Bagotville in 1994. Recce was the game, unarmed was the mode, and we were ready. The airplane was unforgiving, a few of us didn't appreciate that until it was too late, and Europe was our oyster. My first car, a Peugot 404, became a talking point about what not to do behind the wheel. After DeGaulle bade us leave France in March, 1967, Lahr, our next base was a welcome change and the Schwartzwald never forgot us.
